Canon's UFR II (Ultra Fast Rendering II) printing algorithm minimize file processing time and achieve maximum performance. If your workgroups exclusively run Windows® 2000, XP, 2003 Server, or Mac OS X operating systems, Canon's UFR II technology may be the most efficient way for them to print documents. UFR II technology leverages the processing power found on today's powerful PCs to share the data processing load between the connected PC and the controller, speeding printing performance.

Your Central Communication Hub
With a 40GB Hard Drive and a 1GB of RAM, the iR5055 offers a 55 page-per-minute speed to meet the needs of busy corporate workgroups and departments. Acting as a central hub for the high-speed (up to 100ipm) transfer of information, the iR5055 can distribute documents as E-mail attachments, Internet-fax, Super G3 Fax transmissions (optional), forward them to File Servers, Canon imageWARE™ Databases, or to and internal image server Mail Box system for later use.

High Capacity Address Book
Address Book is a feature used for storing the destinations of fax, e-mail, I-fax and file serves. User can store up to 1,800 destinations and link up to 5 LDAP Server.

One Pass Duplex Scanning

The Canon IR 5055 come with the latest One Pass Duplex Scanner, which realizes simultaneous scanning of two-sided original by one paper pass. This has largely contributed to the performance improvement of high volume copying or scanning jobs. The fastest scan speed up to100-images per minute and a document feeing capacity of up to 100 sheets.

Universal Send

Cost-efficiency solution - Ideal for sharing information among workgroup members! Universal Send is a cluster of tightly integrated functions that enable users to scan hard-copy originals, convert them into digital documents, and push them to multiple destinations in a single operation. Scanned pages may be distributed as E-mails or I-faxes via the Internet, or sent to file servers or document management systems using the company's existing Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure. (Super G3 faxing, also available as an option, is another communications mode that is covered separately in the Fax Functionality section of this document.)

Send to Myself, CC & BCC Send

If SDL or the Local Device Authentication user authentication system of SSO is set as the login service, iR5055 can automatically acquired an email address of login user by using user authentication. This saves a user effort of manual entering their own e-mail address and any possible errors associated with it. Besides, newly enhanced function - 'CC & BCC sending' provides additional sending mode to users.
